Crocheting is not an activity made only for our grannies and for bitter spinsters. It can be done by everyone. Especially, now that clothing trends are now more inclined into the use of crocheted items, popular clothing designers are also smitten by crocheting.
However, crocheting is not only for the plain Jane. One has to have the patience and, of course, the time to be able to do anything crocheted. So how does one actually get herself learn to crochet?
It really is not a hard skill to learn. But it neither is an easy one. In order to get you going, all you need is a good crochet hook, yarns, measuring tape, yarn needle, some pins, and a lot of determination to finish a crocheting project.
Here is a rundown of tips on how to easily learn crocheting:
Hold the Yarn Like a Pro
For newbies in crocheting, holding a yarn could be quite a tricky job. Even if it only takes some time of getting used to, knowing how hold it properly and skillfully is not to be overlooked.
Here is how:
1. Let the yarn pass through your fingers upon holding it. This is how it is done: the little finger, then, beneath the ring finger, then, above the forefinger and the middle finger.
2. Another way to hold the yarn is to loop in the region of the little finger, and then, make it cross the forefinger.
3. Upon holding the hook, imagine how you would hold a pencil or a spoon. That’s how it should be held. In that position, it won’t be hard for you to heave the yarn from your fingers down to the loop in the hook.
As you go along the process of crocheting and you start to get the hang of it, you will learn your unique and most comfortable way of working with the yarn. Don’t be afraid to adopt a new method of holding it. It will help you become more of an efficient crochet craftsperson in the long run.
Size Matters When it Comes to the Hook and Yarn
One should not take for granted the skill of identifying the right hook and yarn to use in any crochet project.
Hooks are identified through different letters and numbers that correspond to certain sizes. In crocheting, the higher the number or letter of the hook, the thicker the hook is. As for yarns, their varieties are identified through names.
Resizing the Crochet Project Through the Pattern
To reduce the size of a project, it is as simple as deducting some stitches. One can skip a stitch in a row and continue with the next to reduce the size of the project. To enlarge a project, it is as easy as inserting more stitches in a row. One can easily join two stitches of the same row together. This will make one produce a solo stitch on the next row prior to it.
Reading a Pattern Like a Book
What can complicate the activities of one that is engaged in crocheting are the abbreviations on a pattern. The use of memory and logic can help a lot in surmounting this little crocheting obstacle. The outcome of being able to memorize these important abbreviations is a much faster pace in crocheting and more efficient hands.
1. Crochet patterns and instructions are worked usually in rounds or rows. It will be indicated on the pattern if you are doing or working in rounds, rows or mixture of both.
2. Crochet patterns and instructions are generally ranked according to difficulty level such as advanced, intermediate, easy or beginner. Choose a pattern with a difficulty level that suits your abilities. Then, increase the level of difficulty as your skill advances.
3. Count the stitches that you have made as you go on with your work to monitor the stitches needed on each round or row as required by the pattern.
4. Verify your gauge by crocheting a sample of about 4 X 4 inches in the pattern. When your gauge results into a larger size than what is on the pattern, then use a smaller hook; when your gauge is smaller, then use a larger hook.
When it’s time for you to actually accomplish a crochet project, make sure that you follow the instructions well and you make your patience a bit sturdier than before. Prepare your devices beforehand to ensure the smooth flow of your crocheting endeavor.

Before you begin your next vacation or business trip, make sure you do some research to save yourself time and money on a car or van rental. The main factors you may want to consider when renting a car include price, vehicle type and rental terms.
People want value for their money, and renting a vehicle is no different. Did you know that on average, independent car rental prices are lower by 10-25%? This includes ALL companies, and not just the nationals. There are bigger travel websites that do not display independent companies, so be careful where you shop online. It also pays to go to a rental car company website. The rates are usually cheaper than any other website that their inventory may be displayed on. Why is this? For one, the company does not have to pay a commission like they do with the bigger travel websites. Did you also know that by renting a car further away from the airport that you will save money? People always pay more for convenience, so if you are willing to take a free shuttle or cab to the location, you will save money!
Besides the price, think about what you will be doing with the rental vehicle. Is it for a family vacation? Or will you be taking quick trips to attend business meetings? Most often the economy, compact or intermediate cars will suffice, but sometimes you will require a bigger or roomier vehicle, such as a minivan. Do not forget to consider your luggage when thinking of what size vehicle you may want. It also pays to think about what options you may or may not want. Why pay more money for options you will not be using?
Finally, make sure you are aware of the rental terms, because every company can be different. What are the age requirements? If you are a renter under 25 or over 75 years old, you may incur an additional cost. What are the hours of operation? What are the arrival instructions if you are flying in? The counter may be in the airport, or you may have to take a free shuttle to the location. Do they offer the flexibility of after-hours returns, or one-way rentals? What is the cancellation policy? Make sure you find answers to any questions you have on the actual car rental company website before you make a reservation.
The above will save you time, and help to create a hassle free rental car experience.

Notebooks seem to be the current in thing this year. Taiwan, which is the chief manufacturing country of laptops is having trouble with the demand at the moment. Whatever happens in the market place this demand for laptop computers only seems to be going up. New products are popping up all the time that litterally create new sectors in the laptop computer business.
More consumers are purchasing laptops for gaming these days. If you’re a gamer with a limited budget the good thing is that you can get a gaming laptop a lot cheaper now because the expected life is declining. Gaming laptops are no longer laughed at by serious game players because they are actually fairly good. Some of the annoyances like heat and noise still exist to an extent but barely in the mainstream notebooks. The cases are also pretty sleek. Ok so there remains a difference in performance no matter how advanced gaming laptops have become but that should always remain. Could gaming laptops ever get razor thin? I think this is a niche to observe.
Speaking of gaming laptops, the greater alternatives are attainable when they are custom built. With tier 1 companies you typically don’t have an idea what they fit into the notebook computer. It just provides the end user added flexibility when it all boils down. Premade notebook computers are targeted at consumers who have like minded needs and that may not be you right? A custom made notebooks fixes. Manufacturers who provide custom laptops typically give a more personalised and local support as well. This is also an additional big selling factor.
Next gen laptops do seem like a tantalising proposition. Basic ultra mobiles are the in trend. Plenty of comparable devices have already come out at an ashtonishing speed. Consumers would like to see big screen ultra portables if that sounds right. If we overlook processing power I’m sure we’d witness those versions of laptops today. Consumer trends imply that gaming laptops will get increasingly thinner in the next couple of years. I really can’t guess what to expect aside from those ideas spoken of. Some company designing a product to be unique in a saturated market.
In my opinion Rizeon have the best laptop computers in terms of value for money.

Some gents have a difficult time keeping a boner and some women have particularly long sex drives, meaning it takes the woman a mega long time to climax Because of this difference in sex drives, intercourse could become a boring and undesirable session. That’s why vibrating dildos might often be helpful. If the man shoots early in the game, or even if the chick just takes longer than her man, he can continue to penetrate the gal with the juicy dildo. That way all sexual play does not have to stop. It gives the bloke enough time to charge his energy and also helps the lady aroused. Hence when the guy is all set to come back into the sexual session, the lady will still be aroused enough to accept the gent. Sex Toys are always great fun with lube!
Your very most erogenous area is your mind. And as significantly as numerous women will not admit this, the penis is a traditional symbol of power, no matter how big or small, it is still associated with fertility. Penetrating your wife with a huge dildo might often make a fantasy of power fun reality.
Some women enjoy the sensation of feeling full in their vagina or anus. Whenever a sex aid such as a great big dildo, penetrates the vagina or back passage, the muscles contract around it. Legions of people see the tightening of the above muscles to be extremely enjoyable.

Anyone who has been following Chearleading’s current trend understands that injuries are becoming a major problem. From 1990-2002, research has shown injuries in cheerleading to have doubled (This is with an 18 percent growth). Also, a study published in the journal Pediatrics estimates 208,800 young people ages 5 to 18 were treated at U.S. hospitals for cheerleading-related injures during the 13-year period. Most of the injuries were suffered by 12- to 17-year-olds; nearly 40 percent were leg, ankle and foot injuries.
How have these injuries increased so much in 13 years? The two reasons are increased acrobatic skills and lack of knowledge. Cheerleading has gone way past doing mainly cheers and chants. Now it has moved into doing complex tumbling passes and various acrobatic lifts (stunting). As always, as the skill level goes up, the risk of injury follows.
Unfortunately, the skill level is risng while the knowledge of proper saftey requirements is falling. There is a general lack of information out there for coaches and their cheerleaders. For example, look up coaching football in a book store and you will see a great variety of books at your disposal. Do the same for cheerleading and the selection becomes limited. Even worse, most cheerleading books do not stress the importance of safety enough.
Do to these limited resources, many coaches and cheerleaders wind up trying to replicate a tumbling pass or acrobatic lift (stunt) they saw somewhere else. This leads only to an increased risk of failure and injury. Every tumbling pass and acrobatic lift (stunt) has its required technique and spotters (the people who insure the safety of the participant).
Paul Hopkins has been cheerleading for over seven years. During this time he has been a part of teams at the high school, college, and professional levels. On top of that he has taught numerous clinics and privates to cheerleaders of all ages; including Pro team members. Some of his awards include a 24th place at partner stunt nationals.

Are you looking for a great romantic getaway? A great world class golf destination? A spa resort with luxurious accommodations? A moderately priced Inn with a multitude of dining and gaming options? The Turning Stone Resort and Casino in the heart of Upstate New York offers this and much more.
My husband and I recently spent the weekend at Turning Stone Resort and will be definitely planning more getaways there in the future. Yes, there is a huge Casino with various gaming options but to be honest, there was so much else to do, we were not able to see it all.
Great Entertainment
What drew us to the Turning Stone Resort that particular weekend was their entertainment. I did not want to miss my favourite group, Collective Soul, play in their 800 seat Showroom. It is a fantastic venue to get up close a personal with top name performers and entertainers. With about 125 acts a year, it is easy to see why it has been nominated for Casino of the Year awards. Some top name acts, which have appeared in the showroom, include the likes of Bill Cosby, Pink, Jethro Tull and Tony Bennett. A variety such as this helps make it one of the busiest club venues in the world. The new Event Center is also a great venue for larger concerts, sporting events and conferences.
Variety Of Accommodations
One of the best things about the Turning Stone Resort and Casino is the range of accommodations available to suit every budget. The Lodge at Turning Stone is a 98 all-suite luxury retreat and perfect for romantic excursions and a more relaxed getaway from it all. From the outside it resembles a grand Adirondack lodge and inside it is elegant, sumptuous and a perfect place to unwind. The standard two-room suites at the Lodge include wood floors, ten-foot high ceilings and a balcony or terrace with teak furniture.
If you want to be part of the action the Turning Stone, then booking a room in The Tower Hotel is your best bet. The Tower Hotel has convenient access to the fitness center, parking garage, the Showroom, Casino and various dining options. The rooms are chic and decorated with modern amenities, comfortable beds and large marble bathrooms. Since The Tower rises 19 stories, the view from some of these rooms can be marvellous.
The Hotel at the Turning Stone is another accommodation option, which is connected to all the facilities of the resort. Built as the original hotel on site, The Hotel rooms offer king-sized or double beds, cable TV with in-room movie channels and Nintendo, coffee makers, and hair dryers. If you want to pamper yourself a little more, reserve a Jacuzzi Room or Suite, Patio Suite, or Luxury Suite.
The Inn at the Turning Stone Resort offers moderate priced accommodations. Located a few minutes away from the resort complex, free shuttle service is offered to and from the casino and a continental breakfast is also included with your stay. Another affordable option is the Villages at Turning Stone RV Park. It offers campers 175 paved sites including full utility hook-up, various recreational activities and also free shuttles to and from the Resort.
Lots of Dining Options
As with the variety in accommodation options, Turning Stone also offers dining choices to fit every palate and pocketbook. From gourmet restaurants to casual cafés, the assortment abounds. You can choose from a Brazilian Steakhouse, Italian or Asian cuisine. If you can’t decide, perhaps the buffet restaurant with 7 different menu stations may be what you are looking for. Or, maybe you just want a quick sandwich or a coffee from one of the cafés. One thing is for certain; you will never go hungry at Turning Stone.
Great Golf
Now that you have decided where to stay and where to eat, what else is there to do? How about a round of Golf? The Turning Stone Resort offers three world class acclaimed championship 18-hole courses, designed by Tom Fazio, Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Rick Smith, and two 9-hole courses. What makes golf at the Turning Stone Resort memorable is not only the award winning courses, the impressive landscapes and the outstanding quality, but also its Clubhouses and Player’s lounges and amenities which complete the overall experience and have golfers coming back time and time again.
Casino Action
Of course the Casino is a big attraction for this resort and an impressive one it is. With more than 120,000 of gaming space, there is plenty of room for the various table games, instant multi-games (Oneida Nation’s patented cashless slots), poker rooms, and high stakes bingo. With limits to fit all budgets and running 24/7 - you will always find yourself a space at the Turning Stone Casino.
Relaxing Spa and Salon
After all that there is to do at the Turning Stone resort, a need to rejuvenate yourself may be in order. Well, they have taken care of that too with a full service Spa and Salon. Indulge in a massage, a sauna or steam room or perhaps a dip in the pool or whirlpool.
With so many reasons to visit the Turning Stone Resort and Casino, you will be planning your next trip there before you even leave.

Tie together people’s favorite interests and what you will show is a rage we know as a sportsbook. Really now - what could conceivably be more original? If you visualize a group of aficionados cheering to support a given chosen favorite players, and always bets will be advertised along with the noise. Aspiring to get some of the action, onlookers normally strive to augur who will prevail the impending tournament. Put together, this all boils down to a nice and amicable tournament known as sportsbook. Okla. St..s Ford gets $9.1M over 7 years
Granted that it may sound addictive yet sports gambling is, in reality, merely an amusing entertainment and of teaming up with your fellow sports aficionados. Here, you can bet a a small quantity of mazuma and yet have an amazing time. Here are a lot of leads to get you going sports gambling.
In order to place that bet, you’ll likely want to search out a sportsbook, which is a place that proffers sportsbook. In America, there’s currently a total of no less than four states to do sports gambling in a legitimate manner, but beyond legality you may attempt it anywhere assuming you pin down a bookie and you happen to be a legal adult. Among the games you’ll be able to wager on are pro coupled with college level football + college league basketball, professional baseball, professional hockey, coupled with horse and dog racing. Customers might wager on the global combined score of a contest, in what round a contester will go under, and even whether a given tossed coin in a contest lands heads or tails.
The bookies will lean on number to assist you arrive at a decision which players you may deem will prevail. Primarily, there’s spread, that’s lead assigned to a losing lineup that is anticipated to go under by a set number points. Of Course, this constitutes the betting outfit’s technique of offering impartial lays for a Sportsbook. For instance we may bet money on a competitor that is anticipated to go under and and yet make money on that wager assuming the lineup does actually take a licking by a set number of points.
You will find so many different systems of lays– parlays, straight, over/under antes, teasers, and so on, the straight bets being the most prevalent in sports gambling. Only make certain that you won’t get seized and exhaust your entire social security checks on a whim… Else, you will probably be caught feeling sorry about it till the end of your life…

You wake up one morning and freak outthere’s a lump in your breast. You’ve read all of the stories and seen all of the news reports. The big C word comes to mind. You know that most women who get breast cancer are older than 40 and you are in your 30s. But your mind races to your friends’ faces, friends who have had mastectomies while they were younger than 40…and who had no family history of the disease.
Your insides feel squishy but your heart rate is soaring. You try to calm yourself as, with your hands shaking, you dial your OB-GYN. “I found a lump,” you say. “I need to see you today.” And your doctor, who understands what you are going through, asks you to come in right away.
After seeing the doctor, you are sent for a sonogram or maybe a mammogram, or maybe even both. The lump is solid, but it moves when manipulated by the doctor’s fingers. She is certain it is not a cyst, since it is too solid and the attempt at needle aspiration didn’t work.
The core-needle biopsy comes next. You waver between negative thoughts and positive ones, on an emotional roller coaster. Your friends and family assure you everything will be fine. You wish you could be so certain.
But the call the next day is better than expectedno cancer. What you have is a fibroadenoma, a firm, non-cancerous tumor of the gland. You’ll have to go back to the doctor’s or breast center for repeated ultrasounds, about every six months, to check its status and so the doctors can keep track of its growth rate. The doctors seem to be taking a “wait and see approach”, which you aren’t sure is re-assuring; but you try to convince yourself, if they aren’t worried, you shouldn’t be either.
Over the next few weeks, you search the Net to learn all you can. WebMD says it is smooth, round and painless. You disagree, especially around your period when the tumor downright hurts.
You do more research and talk to more friends. One friend confessed to having surgery twice to remove hers. She said they grew almost golf ball size and were very painful. And according to Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book by Susan M. Love, M.D. (Perseus Books), fibroadenomas “can vary in size from a tiny five millimeters to a lemon-sized five centimeters.” You’re glad yours is on the smaller ender of that scale.
One thing the doctor did tell you was to get off the Pill. It seems the estrogen in birth control pills could make the tumor’s size increase. And you don’t want to take any chances with that. You continue to do research and you feel a little more reassured when you read the line “Fibroadenomas are harmless in themselves, and they don’t have to be removed…” in Dr. Love’s book. That is your plan of attack: only have surgery if it gets too painful or becomes absolutely necessary.
In the meantime, you look for preventative measures, since though Dr. Love writes, “In most cases a woman has only one fibroadenoma; it’s removed, and she never gets any more. But some women do get several over their livesand a few women get many of them.” You don’t want to be one of those women.
Even if preventative measures haven’t been scientifically proven, you figure if it doesn’t hurt you, maybe it will help. You switch to a non-hormone method of birth control. Your doctor suggested cutting out caffeine so you drink decaffeinated green tea, since it is supposed to be filled with antioxidants.
According to the book Breast Health: The Natural Way, by Deborah Mitchell and Deborah Gordon, M.D. (John Wiley and Sons), “Green tea contains high levels of polyphenols, substances that neutralize free radicals associated with cancer, and is a rich source of antioxidants. Green tea protects against breast cancer by preventing initiation of cancer growth.”
You also try to cut out sugars and add more leafy vegetables and soy products. Soy products have been touted for the last decade as containing phytoestrogens (much weaker than the female sex hormone of estrogen.) Scientists at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit demonstrated how genistein, a phytoestrogen found in soy products, inhibits growth of certain breast cancer cells.
You know you don’t have breast cancer, and that fibroadenomas don’t in any way predispose you to cancer, but you are taking precautions. As Dr. Love writes, fibroadenomas are a nuisance, and they can scare you into thinking you might have cancerbut that’s the only bad things about them.”
You know that. So, in addition to the changes you are making in your diet, the biggest change of all is in your attitude. No longer do you take things for granted. Your initial scare and panic has made you realize how much you take your health for granted.
You vow to be better to yourself, to not allow yourself to get so stressed out all of the time. You promise yourself you’ll take better care of your body, maybe get a facial or massage occasionally. To soak in the tub and relax with a good book. To play with your kids and to appreciate your spouse more. But most of all, to count your blessings. You will get through this, and in the grand scheme of things, it may not be that big of a deal.
Jill L. Ferguson is an editor, writer, public speaker and university professor who, like thousands of other women, lived with a fibroadenoma for three years, before its surgical removal in September 2004. Ms. Ferguson’s novel, Sometimes Art Can’t Save You, was published by In Your Face Ink LLC (http://www.inyourfaceink.com) in October 2005.

Have you ever felt so stressed you could jump out of your skin? Ever been so annoyed with someone (such as a boss, co-worker, or partner) that you wanted to ring their neck?
If so, all you need to do is get lost. By get lost I don’t mean run away from reality and live in denial. I mean get lost in doing something you love.
You might say, “But I’m so busy and so stressed that I don’t have time to get lost!” Based on my experience (and I’m getting some revised lessons in this lately), you can’t afford not to.
Let me give you a current example from my life. A portion of my time is still spent working in a “day job” while I build my business. And, lately the stressful and generally low morale atmosphere at this day job has been maddening. Some days I find that I come home needing a bit of self-coaching and an attitude adjustment. While my eagerness to work on my business and with my clients is high and I feel like I want dive right in, I have found that if I simply get lost for about 30 minutes I am so much happier, more relaxed, and wildly more productive.
Now, this approach seems counterintuitive to what people think they “should” do. After all, the “nose to the grindstone” cliché persists for a reason. However, I contend that keeping the “nose to the grindstone” nonstop results in a dull grindstone and no nose. My best guess says that this is not what you really want!
Let me elaborate a little on what I mean by getting lost. I mean choosing an activity that brings you joy, allows you to lose track of time, and makes you feel good about yourself. It is not something you feel you “should” do, it is something that you wish you could do for yourself “if you only had the time”.
For example, it can be a hobby like playing a musical instrument, reading a book, or simply going for a walk. It is whatever works for you given your mood in that moment on that given day. If you worry about losing track of time and not getting back to the rest of the day’s schedule, invest in the cheap but ever effective business tool - the egg timer. For about a dollar, you can buy the most effective time management and productivity tool there is. Simply set it for 30 minutes and forget about it. It gives you the freedom to be totally present to what you’re doing without having to worry about time.
The top 7 benefits of getting lost on a daily basis are:
- Allows the stress you are feeling to melt off of you
- Leaves you with an enhanced state of calm
- Increases your ability to focus
- Creates more joy for you every day and a chance to “just play”
- Gives YOU the care and attention you deserve
- Enhances your creativity and problem-solving
- Enables you to have a fresh perspective
So, what are you waiting for? Get lost!
