Sudoku is the addictive number puzzle that has taken the UK by storm and is now taking over the rest of the world. Since it first appeared in The Times in late 2004 its popularity has grow so that it appears in most UK newspapers and has spread to countries from India to Canada, Australia to South Africa.
So what is Sudoku all about? Sudoku is played on a nine by nine grid which is divided into nine smaller squares. The object of the puzzle is to fill in the digits from 1 to 9 so that it appears only once in each column, row and small three by three square. You are given some of the numbers and you have to use logic and deduction to find the position of the other numbers.
Simple? Well, it depends! A Sudoku puzzle can vary from easy to absolutely fiendish. Certainly the more numbers you are given to start off with, the easier the puzzle, but it also depends on which ones the puzzle setter offers. Traditionally there should be no more than 30 numbers given.
Sudoku first appeared in a US puzzle magazine in the late 1970s, but was then picked up by Japanese publisher Nikoli who dubbed it Su Doku or ‘Solitary Square’ and the puzzle-hungry Japanese loved it. From there it was discovered by The Times and the rest is history.
Sudoku is solved simply by logic; there is no maths required. You may at first be able to fill in a couple of numbers where it appears in every column and row but one. Next you may need to mark up possible candidates in the empty squares until only one possibility remains. Like so many puzzles there will be times when you stare hopelessly and others where the answers jump out at you.
The sudden popularity of Sudoku may be due to many things. It requires just enough brainwork to give a feeling of satisfaction when the puzzle is complete, without taking up huge amounts of time and it requires no special knowledge unlike for instance crosswords, which may require a wide vocabulary.
For hardcore Sudoku fans there are now even more difficult versions. There are sixteen by sixteen square versions which include letters as well as numbers, and a three dimensional version called the Dion Cube.
There are benefits to doing Sudoku puzzles too - the sort of exercise which the brain gets from logic puzzles can help to stop memory decline, make you smarter and even halt the progress of Alzheimer’s disease. Teachers are even giving simple versions of the puzzles to pupils to help develop their logic skills. So next time you see one of those nine by nine grids in your newspaper, give it a go. Your brain might just thank you!

There are many things you have to do once you find out you are
having a baby. One of those things is choosing a name for your
baby. Some people know right away what they will name their
baby, others struggle until the last minute to find a name. There are a few things you should know about choosing a baby name that will help you make that final decision.
The basic origin of a name may be what leads you to your baby
name choice. Some families have names carried down from relatives. Some people may want a name that is derived from their ethnic background. Others might want something truly unique. Unique names can be created by using names from places, nature or by combining two or more names. When you are choosing your baby’s name it is good to get a general idea what basic origin you would like to use.
There are some common problems that you should avoid when naming
your baby. Some names have certain stereotypes associated with
them and they may create an association you would not like your child to have. Hollywood names are often popular but can be annoying when your child grows up. Be careful to watch your child’s initials for horrible acronyms. Popular names may seem nice, but it may be best to avoid them. When your child gets into school there could be many other kids with the same name. Watch for any nicknames or other factors that could lead to teasing. Make sure the name you chose fits with your last name. Keep in mind your child will have to learn to spell
both names, so do not make it too hard. Once you have signed the birth certificate with your baby’s name it is very troublesome to fix it, so avoid problems from the start.
Making the final decision on a name can seem difficult. Try to work with your partner to find something you both like and can agree on. Ask for others opinions, but don’t chose a name just because someone else thinks it is the right one. Look everywhere for names. You can look through traditional baby name books or go to the telephone book or even a romance novel. Names are everywhere and finding one is the easy part. Finally deciding will make you feel great.
Your simple guide to choosing a baby name was written by Craig Dawber, The infomation found in this website can without doubt can help with choosing the best name for your unborn child check it out http://www.babynamescenter.info.

The British recession might often be a scary situation for any small firm, especially with the rate of companies having to make workers redundant in the last twelve months. With the economic market downturn it truly makes the greater part of company owners to decide to cut budgets for just about anything like workplace furniture. With all that in mind, the majority of finance directors are now looking at second hand furniture or low cost furniture.
No more are the days when business owners would kit the office in oak and pine antique furniture from the Edwardian era and appreciate marble flooring at reception. Many now use flat packed office furniture. The great thing about affordable office furniture is that accountants may actually get much more for your cash than finance departments would expect. For the similar cost of an antique oak reception desk, firm owners can probably afford to find a woodchip office desk, office chair, filing cabinet and office plants.
With the economic market downturn, many organisations will be seeking for ways to minimise outgoings. Assessing the expenditure that is not necessary will probably help loads of firms free up money to improve their financial situation. So next time you are looking to get office desks be aware that there is a less costly option out there if finance directors look for it. If you are looking for office furniture, you can shop for Monitor Arms online at CFW.

School bullies never seem to stop! Sometimes you have to “hit ‘em where it hurts” as we say!
So you have made a dent in the bullying at your school! Congrats.
But, you still have a hard core of 5-10% of the bullies that you are trying to reach.
Most schools have special events. One effective way to subdue bullies for a short time at least is to bar them from special events if their bullying behavior does not improve.
Field trips are a common event. Bullies love field trips because there is unstructured time where they can do their thing. Bullies can be easily eliminated from field trips or, worse yet, their parents can be required to attend the trip with them.
And, oftentimes their parents bully them!
Bullies should be removed from special assemblies, especially end-of-the year assemblies that are fun and rewarding for the students. I feel that in this situation, the students who have earned awards and behaved well all year, deserve a nice assembly where bullies are not harassing them.
Bullies should not be allowed to attend Field Day where students are celebrating the end of the year and having fun. Again, this is an unstructured situation where they can do some damage, and the other kids deserve to have some fun and celebrate.

Kid party decorations can be cheap and easy, yet impressive, if you follow these simple guidelines and use a little imagination and advance planning. Get rave reviews with our fun decorating ideas!
GREETING SIGN
A greeting sign in your front yard or on your door is a nice way to welcome party guests. Match it to the party theme and colors. For a construction party write “Caution: Work Zone” in black on a yellow background. For a luau party, draw orange, yellow and pink leis around the word “Aloha”. A western party sign could say “Welcome to the O.K. Corral”.
With just a little imagination, a homemade sign can be better than a store-bought one and you’ll be complimented on your ingenuity to boot!
BALLOONS
Balloons are a must for every kids party. They are cheap, colorful, and every kid loves them! Choose the balloon color to complement your party theme. For example, two shades of green for a jungle party, orange and black for a Halloween party, yellow and orange for a construction party, and so on.
Assorted helium-filled balloons can be bunched and anchored in the middle of the party table as a centerpiece, or attached from the light fixture in the center of the room. I always get a special birthday mylar which relates to the party theme and tie it to the birthday child’s chair.
A balloon arch is an impressive way to direct guests to the party area. Simply attach helium-filled balloons to a ribbon about every 12 inches and secure it to the ground on either side of your doorway. Remember to attach a few balloons to your mailbox to show guests where the party is. Be sure you have enough balloons to give one to each party guest as they leave.
CREPE PAPER
Another cheap and easy party decoration is crepe paper. Tie four to six pieces from the center light fixture in the room extending to the corners and walls. Twist as you go and
secure with masking tape or rubber cement, both of which are easily removed after the party is over. For an extra fancy effect, twist two different colors of crepe together. Attach a couple of balloons over the crepe paper ends to cover any tape or glue.
Hang crepe paper strips in doorways similar to the 60’s beaded look. Alternate colors for more visual interest. Balloons and crepe paper alone are enough to give your party area a fun and
festive atmosphere.
TABLE DECORATIONS
Personalize your party table with some homemade embellishments.
Start with a tablecloth designed by the party child. Cut a length of butcher paper and let him or her decorate it with colorful markers, crayons, pictures cut from magazines, construction paper shapes - let the imagination run wild! Then, sandwich your child’s creation between a colored
plastic tablecloth and a clear one, so it can be appreciated by all, yet protected from spills.
Use one or more of your child’s toys relating to the party theme as a centerpiece. For example, a large teddy bear for a teddy bear picnic party, a grouping of Barbies for a dolly party, a cowboy hat for a western party - you get the idea. You can even anchor a balloon bouquet to your unique
centerpiece.
Curl several lengths of curling ribbon and lay on the table surrounding your centerpiece. Add a few sprinkles of party confetti - it even comes in different themes - to complete the effect.
COSTUMES
You may not think of costumes as decorations, but they are! They just happen to be adorning people, not walls or tables! It’s fun for the party hosts and party child to dress with
the party theme, even if it’s just a hat, funny glasses, or themed T-Shirt. This conveys a playful mood to get your party going in a festive spirit.
If you plan your theme several months ahead, you can anticipate your needs and take advantage of sales and discounts to keep the cost of decorations down. Keep a storage container of party
decorations you see on close-out throughout the year. If you throw an annual party on Halloween, Valentine’s Day or other holiday, shop the day after the holiday for deeply discounted items and save them in your party container for the following year’s party.
Follow these simple kids party decorating tips, and you’ll reap the benefits with rave reviews from party guests and parents alike!

There is something about an autograph that excites me to no end.
It’s almost like holding life pulse of the person who created that signature with his or her own hand.
When I look at the glorious imperfections of a signature I immediately feel a strange connection between the hand that created that signal and myself.
It is almost like a bridge is erected instantly between the past and the present and something moves across.
The feeling is especially strong if the signature belongs to the author of the book that I’m holding in my hands.
Writing a book is tough.
Although I’ve written probably thousands of articles in my life I still haven’t written a single book because I did not have the discipline, desire and monetary incentive to write one.
Thus I have a lot of respect for anyone who writes a book.
That’s why my principal sentiment in holding a book in my hands has always been one of GREAT REVERENCE.
And that’s also why I always had a very hard time in parting with my old books even when I was sure I’d never read them again.
Autographed books always make me feel like I am being treated to a privileged meeting with the author.
And when I discovered that some autographed books also brought a lot of cash in the market, I’ll be honest with you, that did not make me feel any worse either.
Today I cherish the small collection of autographed books I have in my library, some of which have really interesting stories behind them.
Perhaps the strangest of them all is one that I got for FREE, by rescuing it from the trash bin of a public library! (It is 100% true.)
One day as I was visiting a public library not too far away from my home I saw librarians throwing away large stacks of withdrawn books into the dumpster. When I asked if I could take a peek, they told me I was free to help myself to any that I liked.
And guess what did I find after a few minutes of pecking my way through the heap? An interesting book on wines and wineries. Hmmm…
When I opened the book, I was really shocked because it was autographed, with an inscription scribbled for a friend, by none other than Baron Philip Rothschild of Bordeaux, France! Lord — what are chances of that ever happening again?!
I have another book in my collection about Wendy’s fast food empire and written by its founder Dave Thomas.
I’ve bought it for only 50 cents at a book sale when I noticed that there was a handwritten inscription inside, addressed to someone addressed as a “son,” and then signed simply as “Dave”!
To this date I’m almost sure this is the handwriting of Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas who died in 2002. I’d love to verify that for sure some day.
I thought about the strange predicament of the book that a very important business leader has signed for someone that he obviously cared a great deal about.
And that someone, somehow, gave this precious book away to the library.
What happened in between? Who knows. Perhaps it’s a story longer and sadder than I ever need to know. But I’m keeping “Dave’s book” with me till I die for sure. Dave, it’s in good hands now.
I have a dozen other similar stories about the autographed books I’ve collected over the years, some for free, and some for just a few bucks.
If you love books and autographs, the next time you are at a yard or book sale, just look carefully inside them volumes. You may go back home with a precious gem to warm your heart and illuminate your mind for years to come.

With spring in the air & winter soon disappearing now is the time to pack away the sweaters with bring out one’s flip flops! 1. Listen to your child/children. Pay attention to what they are telling you or trying to tell you. Far too often parents are too busy or distracted to listen to what their children are trying to tell them. Don’t make this critical mistake!!!
2. Teach your child what her phone number and address are. This is crucial for basic child safety.
3. Make time for your kids. If you share your time with your children, you will create the trust it may take for them to open up to you and share something that might be bothering them.
4. Trust your instincts. Nothing is as powerful as a parental instinct. If you have a suspicion, err on the side of safety and trust your instinct.
5. Teach children about boundaries. It can be somewhat uncomfortable, but teaching a child about what is appropriate and inappropriate play, touching, etc., can be the difference between an empowered child who can ask for help and a child who is far too trusting. This “trusting” nature of an innocent child could lead to him/her becoming a victim of a child predator, for example. To learn if there are convicted molester’s living near you, get a FREE ZIP CODE SEARCH
6. Make rules about safety and enforce them! For example, if a child knows that he may not play outside of his yard without asking for permission, you are helping yourself and your child. Firstly, you are sending a message to your child that you care about her safety and surroundings while at the same time, you are helping yourself to quickly identify a “suspicious situation” if the agreed upon boundaries are not in place.
7. Get to know your children’s friends and their parents. This is especially important if your child is going to be spending time at another child’s house. There is nothing strange about setting up a time for you, as parents, to meet and discuss any expectations you might have regarding the visit, i.e. that a parent will be in the home with the children at all times. You might also consider - and I recommend - getting “The Child Abuse Prevention Letter”
8. Tell your children that you love them. Explain that there is nothing that he or she could do or tell you that would make you stop loving them. This allows children the freedom to tell you anything that has happened to them that they may be embarrassed or ashamed of. Predators know that they can trick a child into believing that she or he is at fault for being molested. Sadly, very often this trickery works and children blame themselves completely for what is happening to them.
9. Keep several current color pictures of your child on hand if an emergency situation arises. Usually a picture from the shoulders up works best. Complete the “Child ID” Form and keep it in a safe place.

Preparing for prom night should begin months ahead of time.
Getting a date comes first. Girls without steady boyfriends spend more time finding a date than do the boys. The best strategies involve becoming a part of a particular group and building a particular friendship with prom night in mind.
Boys and girls each have their respective areas to prepare. Sometimes it’s difficult just to get the boys to rent their tuxedo, but they also need to arrange for the limousine rental, cover all costs, and make the arrangements for the night-such as a group activity or a romantic dinner before.
For girls, preparing for prom night is more intense. Make a to do list for the prom. Make another just for your hair. Select dress, jewelry, and hairstyle in that order, coordinating everything. If you need a hair stylist, begin asking for recommendations in advance. If you have one already, make a special appointment three months ahead to discuss your prom hairstyle.
Six weeks ahead, book an appointment with your stylist no less than four hours before the limo arrives. Try a complete dress rehearsal with hair, dress, and jewelry a month before your prom. Finally, on the day before collect all your essentials in one place. Does your hairdryer work? Do you need more gel?
These are the essential steps when preparing for prom night. Finally, don’t forget that you and your date will exchange corsage and boutonnire. Buy it the day before, keep it refrigerated, and please try not be nervous when you pin it on.
Ian Partridge lauched a website called http://www.promhair.us which includes more resources and links relating to prom night
