Be and Stay Positive It’s a Must

No, matter what your old self and others may say you must stay positive, if you are to truly become who you want to become, and then keep your eyes on the prize “The Perfect You.” They won’t know how you can be changing and some may even get jealous, as they won’t be able to understand how you can be changing for the better, when really that’s exactly what they want to do. Everyone wants to be happy, healthy, have enough money and they are all within your grasp you can achieve almost anything, stay positive.

Your parents may not like the way you are changing, that’s OK; your friends may not like the way you are changing that’s OK. If that’s what you want to do, then stay positive and don’t let anyone bring you down, you are a winner and you can make it! You deserve to be happy and have things in life that you want!

Get Lost!

Have you ever felt so stressed you could jump out of your skin? Ever been so annoyed with someone (such as a boss, co-worker, or partner) that you wanted to ring their neck?

If so, all you need to do is get lost. By get lost I don’t mean run away from reality and live in denial. I mean get lost in doing something you love.

You might say, “But I’m so busy and so stressed that I don’t have time to get lost!” Based on my experience (and I’m getting some revised lessons in this lately), you can’t afford not to.

Let me give you a current example from my life. A portion of my time is still spent working in a “day job” while I build my business. And, lately the stressful and generally low morale atmosphere at this day job has been maddening. Some days I find that I come home needing a bit of self-coaching and an attitude adjustment. While my eagerness to work on my business and with my clients is high and I feel like I want dive right in, I have found that if I simply get lost for about 30 minutes I am so much happier, more relaxed, and wildly more productive.

Now, this approach seems counterintuitive to what people think they “should” do. After all, the “nose to the grindstone” cliché persists for a reason. However, I contend that keeping the “nose to the grindstone” nonstop results in a dull grindstone and no nose. My best guess says that this is not what you really want!

Let me elaborate a little on what I mean by getting lost. I mean choosing an activity that brings you joy, allows you to lose track of time, and makes you feel good about yourself. It is not something you feel you “should” do, it is something that you wish you could do for yourself “if you only had the time”.

For example, it can be a hobby like playing a musical instrument, reading a book, or simply going for a walk. It is whatever works for you given your mood in that moment on that given day. If you worry about losing track of time and not getting back to the rest of the day’s schedule, invest in the cheap but ever effective business tool - the egg timer. For about a dollar, you can buy the most effective time management and productivity tool there is. Simply set it for 30 minutes and forget about it. It gives you the freedom to be totally present to what you’re doing without having to worry about time.

Maybe it is time to discover a new way to overcome
procrastination and get motivated.

When a deadline looms you need a quick and easy way to start
making some progress and beat procrastination. This is very
possible for you with the following three minor shifts in how
you think about work. Read on to learn how to get motivated. You
can finally overcome procrastination with these motivation tips.

1. Define Specifically What You Must Do

Ignore all other tasks for the moment. This step can be a
revelation - clarity helps you to concentrate on what matters
most of all.

It is a lot easier to get started when you know what needs to be
done rather than feeling like you have to do everything at the
same time.

Write down the goal as specifically as you can so that you have
a clear and attainable target to aim for. Otherwise you will
never beat procrastination.

2. Allow Yourself To Make Mistakes

If you demand perfection of yourself you will quite naturally
put off getting started until the perfect moment arrives. Of
course this will never happen so you will never commence the
project.

It is more important to begin.

Do your best and make corrections later on. By adopting this

3. Compete Against Yourself

When you compete against others the possibility of failure can
stop you from even trying. It is far better to compete against
your previous best performance. Compare the quality of your work
with your usual standards and aim to match or beat that
standard. This approach puts you back in control and allows you
to succeed on your own terms.

Obviously your personal standards must meet or exceed those of
the people who are relying on your work.

To sum up. You can beat procrastination with a few minor shifts
in how you think about success and achievement. For the sake of
learning a new way of thinking about your work you can enjoy
greater success and leave the anxiety of procrastination behind

TRAINING Your Mind to Help You

singer and songwriter Chuck Pyle, likes to say, “The mind is
like a bad neighborhood-you should never go there by yourself.”
If you’re mind hasn’t been trained to help you, via methods like
meditation, shamanism or NLP, it might really be a bad
neighborhood. Our minds constantly absorb thoughts, behaviors,
and responses from our environment. These various thought
patterns and responses may or may not be in alignment with our
goals. So, unless we actively train our minds to be responsive
to our needs, we may be in for a wild chariot ride (and 6 out of
control horses)!

>From a shamanic point of view, we say that each person is a
spirit with a mind and body. In other words, we are spirit and
mind and body are tools that we, spirit, can use. However, just
because we have mind as a tool doesn’t mean that mind, in its
current form, is a good tool for us. The untrained mind is a lot
like an untrained animal-be prepared for the unexpected!

Have you ever sworn to yourself (say on New Year’s Day?) that
you’re never going to fall for the wrong kind of mate again? Or
you’re going to lose 10 pounds this year? Or you’re going to .
the list is endless. Then what happens? We forget what we’ve
promised ourselves, or we find other priorities that are more
important. That forgetfulness is a sign that mind isn’t trained
to help us with our aims. Mind is doing its own thing.

So what can we do to train mind? Segment intending, one of our
favorite exercises from Abraham-Hicks, is a simple way to train
your mind to help you while also accomplishing a lot each day.
Here’s how you do it:

1) Pick the length of time for your “segment.” It can be any
length of time, but no more than an hour. Thirty minutes or an
hour works well. Decide exactly what time the segment will start
and end.

2) Decide on your aim for that segment. It could be a list of
tasks, a state of being, or both. For instance, you might decide
that you will strive to remain light hearted while you return
phone calls for 30 minutes.

3) When the segment start time arrives, start your segment with
no second thoughts. Put your attention solely on the tasks for
that segment and nothing else.

4) If you get interrupted during your segment, you need to
decide whether the interruption is important enough for you to
stop your segment (for instance, if your boss stops by your
office for a chat). If the interruption is not important enough,
keep going on your segment. If the interruption is important,
make a conscious decision to stop your current segment and start
a new one (one centered around the interruption).

Practice doing these segments throughout the day. Each segment
is a training period for your mind, and will teach your mind to
assist you in whatever you are doing. Segment intending works
even better with a buddy, who can help you stay on track and
stay focused. Whether you segment intend by yourself or with a
friend, you’ll find your mind becoming much more responsive to
your needs as a spirit. Enjoy!
